#HOW MANY BOOKS ARE IN THE HORUS HERESY SERIES#

Black Library decided to change all that, with an absolutely epic series of novels that continues to this very day. I'm a huge 40k fan and will read every book in the series, there are a few I skipped and will go back to after I am done with current SoT but those are anthologies and the books deemed 'horribly written' but that's just me. While the Horus Heresy had existed for years as a key aspect of the Warhammer 40,000 background, much of it was shrouded in mystery and supposition. I will post a link showing which books you should read for plot information and story progression and which can be skipped/can be skipped but are worth reading for one reason or another. Personally I'd suggest (assuming you don't care to read every main story/important information book) reading 1-5 then picking the space marine chapters you are interested in and reading their story arcs. Or do what most of us did in our first run through, read all the books except: Anthologies/Books not involving Heresy/main plot having no effect on the story.

Being that after the first 4-5 books the series jumps around time periods/event locations in the universe. I mean no one HAS to read any of Them in any specific order no, granted you will miss key events and information if you dont. What it’s about: After creating a religion that worships the Emperor as a God, Lorgar is publicly shamed by his father. The series began in 2006 with the publication of Dan Abnett s Horus Rising and as of 2019 will consist of 54 novels, twenty-four novellas, forty-seven audio dramas, and a large number of short stories written by over nineteen different authors.
